Ludwig Karl Maria Vierthaler was a German sculptor and university professor and isconsidered one of the most important Hanoverian artists of the 20th century. After studying at the Munich School of Applied Arts, Vierthaler initially worked as a small-scale sculptor, including for two years in the studio of Bruno Paul in Berlin. In 1910, he received his first commissions from the city of Hanover and the surrounding area, where he subsequently designed numerous public and private
buildings.
